APEX II is based on the use of the CCD6161 Fairchild Imaging chip.
The CCD6161 is a full format sensor with charge coupled device (CCD) in solid state 4K by 4K, having a pixel pitch of 15 µm with a fill factor of 100% and a size of 6.2 cm by 6.2 cm.
